Airsoft Battery Charge Time

I just bought an Echo 1 Tactical Ak-47 and it came with a stock battery. I charged it full and when i went to shoot for the first time, semi-auto locked up and automatic locked up after just a couple hundred rounds. the battery also gave off a bad sound. i tried a different battery and it worked fine and seemed to have better rpm than with the stock battery mine came with. i decided to charge it again, and it still is not preforming well. is the battery just bad? should i get a new one? what kind should i get?
well some guns i mean SOME guns say that they should charge it if its dead… if u dont know then i would go to the nearest airsoft shop and get help
