Airsoft Battery Charging Time
is there a way to charge an airsoft battery without worrying about the time?
when i charge my airsoft battery im ussually doing something else and sometimes i forget to unplug it when its done charging then my room smells like burnt battery (one time i almost set my room on fire because i left it charging overnight). is there some kind of magic charger out there that stops charging when the battery is full?

It will charge NiMH or NiCd battery packs from 4.8V-10.8V (4 – 9 cell packs) that are rated for 1100mAh or higher for you and shut down when finished
I also use a cheap lamp timer like this one ($5 at home depot)

and I can use my standard “dumb” charger, just calculate the correct charge time and set the timer for the correct on/off points, and it will charge it overnight safely. However, don’t forget to unplug it in the am or it may charge again in the next 24-hour cycle 
To calculate your charge time, just take the mAh battery rating (say 1000mAh) and divide by the charger capacity (say 250mA), 1000mAh / 250mA = 4h which is your minimum charge time. To get a 100% full charge, add 40% to compensate for the internal battery resistance and you get 4h * 1.4 = 5.6h or 5h 36min so 5 1/2 hours on the timer should get you to a full charge. If it gets too hot (when it is uncomfortable to hold) get a fan of some sort to blow air on it to cool it down during charging, heat is really bad and will degrade the performance and decrease the lifetime of the pack. Don’t reuse the burnt batteries they are damaged and possibly a fire hazard now.
